REAL WEDDING: A VINTAGE INSPIRED KENT WEDDING FROM CAUGHT THE LIGHT

Happy Wednesday folks! We’re that little bit closer to the weekend, and with it comes the opening of The White Gallery in London, the UK’s answer to NYC’s Bridal Week. We can’t wait to soak up all the new designs and inspirations for the coming seasons, and share them with you. Watch this space!

But first, a little English wedding heaven from Caught the Light

Say Hi to Kat & Levi, a sales manager and building surveyor can’t actually remember exactly where they met!

“We just drifted around the same social circle for a couple of years,” says Kat, “things kicked off for us one night when I threw a leaving party for a friend who was going to Africa. I was dressed as a Zebra and he was a rather fetching looking Gorilla. An unlikely pairing I know but a rumour got to my ears that there was a six pack under his costume and, well, the rest is history! (I won’t make any jokes about “animal attraction” I just won’t)”

“As we were dating we had a park in Tooting, near where he lived, that we would spend hours in. It quickly became “our place”. One cold day in November Levi wanted to head to the park for a picnic. I thought that was really strange considering the arctic temperature and had actually convinced myself that he was going to break up with me. We sat and chatted about life for an hour or so whilst wrapped in an old blanket feeding the ducks in the local pond then went for a walk. Mid walk he handed me a card, which I opened and was surprised to read “congratulations on your engagement” I turned around and he was on one knee with a gorgeous ring. Maybe it was a bit presumptuous but he knew there was no way I would ever say no.”

“It took about 8 months to plan the wedding and I absolutely loved every second of it. One set back was that the venue we fell in love with did not have availability on the date that we had planned. To be honest it wasn’t that big a deal though as we decided to just move the wedding forward a day to a Friday. This actually meant that the wedding ended up being on our anniversary exactly two years after we started dating. So it wasn’t that big a problem in the end!”

“The bridesmaids dresses came from a range of wedding dresses at House of Fraser. My mum and my aunt bought fabric in the right colour to suit the wedding theme and put their sewing skills to good use adding sashes to the dresses and creating ties, bow ties and cravats for the men.”

“A lot of the wedding was DIY. We hollowed out books to create the invitations for our day guests, created scrabble place settings, had a DIY photobooth, a very talented friend created a gorgeous screen for us to use to hang keys on for our table plan. In fact most of the wedding was put together by us and our crew of wonderful friends and family. The best thing was that one of my very close family friends is an extremely talented florist. She put together all the flowers for the day with help from my bridesmaids and another friend who also is a florist (Great friends to have!!). The flowers were sourced from Covent Garden flower market and friends back gardens. Bargain!”

TGIF | REVERIE KINDS OF WONDERFUL

10th May

We don’t know about you, but the week after a bank holiday is always so exhausting! This week has been nonstop running from one task and meeting to the next. We are so looking forward to sitting down, savoring a glass of vino and catching up on Mad Men, Grey’s Anatomy and Game of Thrones… but until then, we have to help you procrastinate, so here are some of our favorite finds from around the interwebby world this week…

All of these cakes make us go YAY!

Bride holding a black bunny – so cute we die.

Mary has found her new stationery obsession with Pei.

Flowery Vans. Want.

How to do your own crown braid loose updo.

Not an obvious choice for wedding inspiration, but we love this Frida Kahlo inspired shoot.

She may be too little now, but Mary’s baby is destined to wear this honey bunny coat.

All of these mommy with baby photos made us smile.

We just love these modern & romantic destination wedding invitations.

As we said over on Rêverie Bébé, we hope all of our readers across the Pond have a wonderful Mother’s Day this weekend and that all of our readers in other parts of the world kick back and enjoy this weekend too… and that it may be filled with lots of sunshine and delicious treats…

REAL WEDDING: WHIMSICAL ENGLISH COUNTRY WEDDING FROM ANETA MAK

Have we got a wedding treat for you today! This gorgeous whimsical English wedding comes from one of our favorite photographers in London, Aneta Mak (whose image graced the cover of our Fall 2012 issue) and it is chock full of delightful details that you are going to adore!

2013-05-07_002

Rebecca & Joe were married in Milden Hall in Suffolk, a working farm with a history that stretches back to Tudor times.

2013-05-07_008

Their tan and green invitations were designed to appear hand-drawn and evoked woodland whimsy, setting the tone for their laid-back country nuptials.

2013-05-07_0102013-05-07_006

Rebecca’s ethereal Jenny Packham sheath channeled vintage elegance, while Joe looked the dashing country gent in wool tweed and tan brogues.

2013-05-07_0052013-05-07_0072013-05-07_0042013-05-07_018

How crazy cute are the little ones announcing the entrance of the bride?!

2013-05-07_024

Rebecca & Joe designed their orders of service after Turkish map-folds and set them out on each chair at the ceremony.

2013-05-07_0162013-05-07_014

How adorable is this wedding party? – the groomsmen all wore braces and vintage floral bow ties, while the ladies looked like perfect English roses.

A perfect wedding cake for a country wedding? – a “naked” cake! We also love how they set it out on a wooden block. Rustic, simple, gorgeous.

2013-05-07_0112013-05-07_013

For favors, Rebecca & Joe gave the women homemade embroidered lavender bags in the shape of hearts; for the men, they catered to their appetites with homemade jam (made by Rebecca’s parents).

2013-05-07_0222013-05-07_0192013-05-07_021

Music was a huge part of the celebration – with a roaming band performing around the guests during the evening meal, a ceilidh band, and even the groom and his groomsmen performing covers as well as a special song that he had written for the bride.

What did we tell you – isn’t this wedding so special? Huge thanks to the lovely Aneta Mak for sending it to us to share with you. And of course, big congrats to the lovely Rebecca & Joe!

REVERIE STYLE: VERA WANG SPRING 2014 BRIDAL COLLECTION IN BLACK + WHITE

We hope those of you in the UK had a relaxing holiday weekend (and that all of our other readers from around the world are having a lovely week so far!)…

As we get settled back into Reverie HQ today, we thought what better way to ease into work than sharing some drop-dead gorgeous and eye-popping gowns from Vera Wang! Never disappointing us with what she unveils each season, Vera Wang debuted gowns from her Spring 2014 collection that are sleeker and more pared down than recent past seasons, and with a pretty bad-ass black + white palette to boot… To us, this collection can be captured in one word: striking.

Of course all of the dresses can be ordered from Vera Wang in all white/ivory… But we are dying to know – would you wear a black + white wedding dress?

TGIF: REVERIE KINDS OF WONDERFUL

3rd May

Happy sun-shiney Friday everyone! We don’t want to tempt fate, but it looks as though spring might finally be here! There are daisies and dandelions springing up all over the freshly cut lawn and we want nothing more than to lie amongst them, with a blanket and a good book!

And we might do just that! But if you’re tethered to your desk, here are a few beautiful distractions for you…

Make your own watercolor escort cards.

The cutest crocheted toys for the littles.

Inevitably, Mary is finding that she needs a cuter diaper bag and this mommy dearest bag may be the ticket.

Get hitched in a galaxy far, far away

The ultimate toolkit for sexy bedhead (it’s a real art form!)

The perfect summer dress.

Head-over-heels for this charming backyard Memphis wedding (pics above, and loving those giant polka dots!).

We’ve been doing our homework and taking inspiration from Net-a-Porter chief Natalie Massanet’s Instagram presentation.

Kate’s out-of-character trainer obsession continues with these low-key navy Nikes.

Love these brogue-style side tables.

Whatever you have planned for the weekend, we hope you have a good one!

KT & MLH x x

REVERIE STYLE: MONIQUE LHUILLIER SPRING 2014 BRIDAL COLLECTION

Did you see our wedding yesterday with the bride wearing a gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown? Well, her dress got us all inspired and we’re now all about Monique! Her recent debut of the Spring 2014 bridal collection was just stunning…

First off, the capes… love the drama in this one…

2013-05-02_0062013-05-02_004

Like the Monique bride in our feature, these lace necklines are so romantic…

These shorter dresses and jackets would be perfect for a small registry/city hall wedding… or for a change in wardrobe for the evening…

Reverie Magazine2013-05-02_0022013-05-02_003

And of course we love the full skirts…

So lovely, right? Tell us, are you going to be a Monique Lhuilllier bride?
