A GLAMOUROUS CONTEMPORARY SEATTLE WEDDING: LIZ & ROB

We’ve got a stunner of a wedding for you today from photographer-extraordinaire, Michele M. Waite.

Liz & Rob were married in gorgeous Seattle, Washington and their wedding was all about sophisticated, contemporary glamour. Let’s start by drooling over the details of her Monique Lhuillier gown…

Don’t you just love the golden tones in the dress paired with a simple gold clutch and metallic leather strappy sandals with red and orange accents? This right here is a hot color palette!

We are loving Liz’s choice to have her flower girls in dove grey, versus traditional white.

If you’re having an indoor ceremony, definitely follow Liz & Rob’s lead and find a venue with large windows and a gorgeous panoramic view of the city beneath your feet.

How beautiful is Liz’s luscious orchid bouquet?!

With the help of their wedding planner and designer, Steven Moore, Liz & Rob went for a contemporary chic design for their wedding, mixing in the simple and elegant orchids (from Liz’s bouquet) with fiery red and orange roses on a clean and simple grey and white setting.

God, we love Philippe Starck Ghost chairs!

In addition to the award-winning catering from their venue, Canlis Restaurant (which is seriously making us hungry!), Liz & Rob served a dessert table full of bite-sized dessert canapes. I think I spy a decadent rich chocolate mousse cake with pistachio sponge…!

What an insanely beautiful wedding full of details that we are sure will inspire all of you who are currently planning an indoor glam wedding!

Big thanks to Michele M. Waite for sending this wedding our way – and big hugs and congrats to the happy couple, Liz & Rob!

POOLSIDE IBIZA VILLA WEDDING: DANIELLE & JAMES

For those of you who are thinking about planning a destination wedding, have we got a treat for you today – a poolside celebration on the island of Ibiza!

Danielle & James were married on a family villa in Ibiza and injected their wedding design with influences from the classic Alice in Wonderland.

We love the dramatic natural scenery and how they chose to have their ceremony directly poolside – you can’t get more summery than that!

It’s really refreshing to see a pretty take on the Alice in Wonderland theme without going overboard with the vintage crockery while mixing in some modern pieces.

Thank you so much for Danielle & James for sharing their beautiful wedding with Reverie! And big thanks to their photographer Ana Lui for sending it our way!

A MATRIMONIAL MEXICAN FIESTA FILMED BY MANIFEST VIDEOGRAPHY

We die every time we look at Regina & Zaheen’s wedding – the “Matrimonial Mexican Fiesta” as captured by Aaron Delesie and styled by Lisa Vorce and Mindy Rice in our current Spring issue. You may have clicked on the link on page 217 and seen the wonderful film created by their videographer, James Reid of Manifest Videography, but we love it so much that we had to share it here on the blog too!

There is so much more to this wedding (we couldn’t fit it all into the pages of the magazine, alas!) and you can catch it right here in Manifest Videography‘s film of Regina & Zaheen – from getting ready on the day to the moving ceremony to the dance party (including Regina’s impromptu dance to Michael Jackson’s Beat It)!

To read more about Regina & Zaheen’s wedding story, go to “A Matrimonial Mexican Fiesta” starting on page 193 of our current issue.

OFFBEAT HIP VINEYARD WEDDING: ATHENA & JONNY, PART II

Welcome to Part II of Athena & Jonny’s wedding – in case you missed it, we blogged Part I of Athena & Jonny’s wedding yesterday (and you really don’t want to have missed it – so much sweetness & light! And the story of how they met is just too cute!).

Today we continue with Athena & Jonny’s reception, which is packed full of delightful details that we absolutely adore. Take, for instance, their escort cards stuck into garden planter boxes! We also love the playful modern calligraphy on them.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a family-style dinner that was like an upscale version of an outdoor barbecue with locally sourced ingredients.  The mouth-watering menu included angus tri-tip, blackened catfish, caprese salad with burrata and candied garlic and good ol’ fashioned California Mac n’ cheese.

With the help of some friends, Athena and Jonny built their very own “Kissing Booth.” Guests posed with mustaches and eyeglasses props behind it and – quite appropriately – kissed for the cameras too!

Much of the wedding’s design was DIY, including the vinyl record backdrop that Athena and Jonny hung behind the DJ booth.

Athena and Jonny chose two flavors for their cakes: strawberry shortcake for the wedding cake and red velvet for the groom’s cake.  The groom’s cake was made in the likeness of Jonny’s old racecar – the resemblance and detail were so uncanny and true to life that Jonny was reluctant to eat it!

Athena & Jonny also made the string of daisies as a backdrop to their dessert table, and their wedding planners from So Happi Together further designed their dessert table, complete with hard candies, lollipops and salt-water caramels.

After a filling down-home meal, guests watched as Athena and Jonny turn a turn on the dance floor to The Luckiest by Ben Folds Five – a song that Jonny had first heard over a decade earlier when they first started dating and which, even then, he knew would one day be their song.

We love how Athena chose to throw “faux” bouquets for her bouquet toss! If you did this, then you could save your real bouquet, either by drying it out and encasing it in a shadow box or frame, or press petals into a scrapbook.

Here are some sage words from the bride herself: “Of course it is important to have a beautiful wedding,” remarks Athena, “but more important to us was to have a personal wedding.  We let that guide all our decisions. And we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.”

Big, huge thanks to Athena & Jonny for writing such a heartwarming story about their wedding day to us and of course to the fabulous photographers Jesse & Whitney Chamberlin of Our Labor of Love for sending us their gorgeous work!

Hasn’t this wedding just put you into a celebratory spirit? Well, wait until you see this video of their reception and dance-off from the awesome Brian Morrow of SharkPig!

OFFBEAT HIP VINEYARD WEDDING: ATHENA & JONNY, PART I

Following the launch of our Spring 2012 issue, we wanted to feature something exceptional on the blog and could not think of anything more perfect than a wedding from Our Labor of Love.

Athena and Jonny’s story started over 11 years ago, when Athena was dating Jonny’s roommate and they went to see Jonny’s performance at their university’s production of West Side Story. Like the musical, their romance would have technically been forbidden at that time, but thankfully just a year later, Athena was newly single and found herself in the same acting class with Jonny.  Randomly, they were paired as scene partners, which terrified Jonny – “she was the prettiest girl in class.”  Out of fear, he was at first reluctant to practice scenes with her, but he finally acquiesced after Athena cornered him to schedule a coffee meeting to discuss an assignment. When they finally met for coffee, they talked and talked… and talked – “the time flew by… we never picked a scene because were having too much fun talking,” Athena told us. They ended up staying scene partners for the rest of the semester, a fact that makes Athena note with amusement: “I guess I wasn’t so scary after all!”

Athena’s show-stopper Amsale spaghetti strap dress with its low-cut back was perfection. She paired it with bright fuchsia heels from Fendi.

Athena and Jonny chose to have a smaller wedding celebration so that they could spend quality time with their extended families and friends who had traveled far to be with them. In the late afternoon of a clear California day in July, as a guitarist performed Pachelbel’s Canon in D, Athena walked out on the arm of her father, who was “crying like a baby the entire way.”

Marrying them that day was Athena’s stepmother, with whom she and Jonny are very close and whose words that day were heartfelt, full of warmth and knowledge of their growth as a couple during the past ten years.

After Athena and Jonny read their personal vows to each other – tears flowing from both of them – Jonny dipped Athena for a dramatic kiss and they walked down the aisle as newlyweds to the tune of Ventura Highway.

We absolutely LOVE how celebratory they got for their wedding party portraits!

We have even more fun, happiness and gorgeous detail coming you way tomorrow in Part II of Athena & Jonny! For now, take a look at this kickin’ video of their bridal prep, First Look and ceremony from Sharkpig!
